The client

Jigsaw Business Solutions represents around fifteen major brands - including Nike, ASOS and Hotels.com - in the UK gift card market. Several of those brands were interested in Jigsaw expanding their representation into new international territories.

The challenge

The problem was data. Gift card market information is patchy outside the UK, making it difficult to build a credible business case for international expansion - or even to prioritise which markets to target first.

What we did

We took the entire discovery phase off Jigsaw's plate, freeing their team to focus on business as usual while we got to work on the research.

Where gift card market data existed, we assessed it directly. Where it didn't, we developed a methodology to estimate market size from proxy indicators. For the markets that looked promising on paper, we then identified and connected with local distributors and resellers to validate the opportunity - these were also the channels that would ultimately distribute gift cards for Jigsaw's brands.

We compiled the findings into a prioritised market analysis and a clear business case for international expansion.
