Meet Kev the Dev: The Calm Force Behind Complex Delivery
Some developers love the spotlight. Kevin Holloway, AKA "Kev the Dev", i’s not one of them.
But if you look across some of our most important - and most complex - projects over the last decade, you’ll see his fingerprints everywhere.
For this #TeamTuesday, we wanted to properly introduce Kev - one of the longest-standing members of the Bravand Collective, and someone who’s quietly become a cornerstone of how we deliver great work.
The developer you call when things get… complicated
Kev first joined us back in 2014, stepping into a project that had gone badly off track.
Tight timelines. Broken functionality. Plenty of pressure.
Within four weeks, he’d stabilised the platform, rebuilt key components, and got everything moving again.
That set the tone.
Because since then, Kev’s become the person we trust with the projects where there’s a lot at stake - technically, commercially, or both.
It’s not just about writing code
Lots of people can write code. Kev builds things that actually work.
What makes Kev different is how he thinks.
He doesn’t just jump into implementation - he takes the time to understand:
- What problem are we actually solving?
- Where are the hidden risks?
- What’s going to break later if we rush this now?
It’s why he asks the questions that often get missed at scoping stage. And why he spots issues early, before they turn into expensive problems.
Building things that last (and actually get used)
Across the years, Kev’s worked on everything from:
- Lean internal tools that reduce operational cost and complexity
- Large-scale web platforms for research, education, and public sector organisations
- International systems supporting logistics and compliance
- Mobile and hybrid apps designed for real-world use
On one recent (and, as yet, unpublished) project, he helped shape a location-aware safety platform for coastal anglers - combining mapping, behavioural nudges, and real-time data to help reduce risk and improve decision-making.
Not just a clever piece of tech - but something designed to genuinely change behaviour and save lives.
