The client
Macbrook Gas delivers retrofit work supported by the ECO4 Government Energy Grant - a scheme that funds energy efficiency improvements for eligible households across the UK. To secure that funding, Macbrook must produce compliant project reports containing site photos with embedded GPS coordinates, dates and timestamps for every job completed.
Their existing reporting platform had become unreliable, slow and restrictive. Then it failed completely. Without compliant reports, Macbrook's ability to submit funding claims was at serious risk.
The problem
Macbrook's engineers typically capture more than 25 high-resolution photos per job. Those images need to be processed into structured, compliant reports to support ECO4 funding submissions - and the old platform was making that harder than it needed to be at every step.
File size limits and a cap of 25 images per upload meant most jobs exceeded the system's constraints. Images had to be manually resized or split across multiple uploads. The system would occasionally fail to upload all selected images without clearly flagging errors, meaning Head Office staff had to manually check, re-upload and rebuild reports. GPS coordinates required manual entry, and images frequently appeared out of sequence in exported PDFs - adding another round of corrections before anything could be submitted.
Each of these friction points was manageable in isolation. Together, they added up to a significant admin burden and, when the platform failed entirely, a direct threat to Macbrook's cash flow.
What we built
Bravand developed a purpose-built reporting tool designed around the real-world needs of site teams and compliance workflows.
Engineers can now upload complete photo sets in a single action - no file size limits, no cap on images per upload, no resizing or splitting batches. The upload process is reliable: all selected images are included and confirmed, eliminating the need to manually check and rebuild reports. GPS coordinates and timestamps are applied automatically, and images appear in reports in the order they were taken - removing the manual correction step entirely.
The result
Macbrook can now move from site photos to compliant PDF report in a fraction of the time the old process required. The admin burden on Head Office has been significantly reduced, and the operational risk to ECO4 funding submissions - the revenue stream the whole business depends on - has been removed.
As one small operational bottleneck made very clear: when compliance reporting fails, the consequences are immediate. No reports. No compliant documentation. No funding submissions. Cash flow disruption. Bravand's focus wasn't just building a replacement tool - it was protecting a core workflow that keeps the business moving.
Bravand is continuing development on the platform, with further functionality enhancements in progress and an eye on how the solution could support other organisations facing similar reporting and compliance challenges.
