Launching an Interactive Trend Game for ASOS and Malibu

Bravand created a playful mobile-friendly trend board game for the ASOS × Malibu Malibutique campaign, driving engagement with fashion questions and bespoke results - achieving 10,000 entries in a month.

The brief

ASOS and Malibu teamed up for Malibutique - a summer of free pop-up events touring the UK, combining personal styling, cocktail culture, hair and beauty, and a headline festival event in Central London. Nails Inc, Toni & Guy and the ASOS editorial team were all involved. It was a big, bold consumer campaign and it needed a digital experience to match.

The brief that landed on our desk: "Can you turn an iPhone into a cocktail shaker?".

Yes. Yes we can.

What we built

We designed and built a responsive trend board game - playable across iOS and Android - to sit at the heart of the campaign's digital activity. Users worked through a series of fashion and lifestyle questions created by the ASOS editorial team. Their answers generated a personalised result combining three things:

  • A Malibu cocktail
  • An ASOS outfit
  • A song

To submit their entry and be in with a chance of winning tickets to the Malibutique festival in Central London, users shook their phone like a cocktail shaker - triggering the submission via the device's accelerometer and gyroscope.

Designed and built in under a month.

The results

Over 10,000 entries in the first month of the campaign being live.
