Reuben is currently studying Digital Production at Sheffield College. Earlier in 2026, he attended a talk at the college hosted by our MD Jilly Cross. Following the talk, Reuben took the initiative to contact Jilly directly and ask about work experience. Since then, Reuben has been working a flexible paid work experience with the team, working on a site migration project for a charity client, The Traveller Movement. Here's his view on his experience so far:

I first heard about Bravand when I was in college and followed the rest of the class to the room where people come to speak. I didn't expect much since the people who come are usually quite dry but I really engaged with the talk.

I saw an opportunity to develop my skills and show what I already know - luckily for me, this time I had enough courage to go up and talk to Jilly at the end of the speech, and I was helped in creating a LinkedIn account so we could contact.
We messaged back and forth on LinkedIn for a couple months before I finally signed a 100-hour minimum contract and got an amazing opportunity to work in the field of work that I was looking for.
Communication throughout the project I worked on was very simple; we use an app called Slack which is basically Discord for professionals and it is so easy to use.
I have completed both simple and hard tasks at Bravand, joined client calls & learnt to assign myself work on the ticket managing site Jira.
Also, I was shown everything I need to know for WordPress to be able to contribute massively to the designing of the client's site which has given me skills that I will forever be able to use in this area of work.
I really hope there are more projects to work on soon at Bravand, so far this experience has been incredible and I am very grateful for the opportunity.
